Terms of Service
Last updated 22 June 2026
The agreement between you and DUNDNS LIMITED, the company behind dundns, when you use the service. Our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy cover data and billing; this page covers the rest. Contact is at the end.
-
Using dundns means accepting these terms.
If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service. If you use dundns on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.
-
Best-effort, not a guarantee.
We work to keep dundns fast and available, but it is provided as is, without an uptime guarantee or formal service-level agreement. DNS filtering is a convenience, not a security guarantee.
-
Use it lawfully, and don't abuse it.
Don't break the law, harm others, or attack or overload the service. The full acceptable-use rules are below.
The service
dundns is a recursive DNS resolver with optional filtering: encrypted DNS (DNS-over-HTTPS, DNS-over-TLS, DNS-over-QUIC, and Oblivious DoH), custom allow and block rules, third-party blocklists and threat-intelligence feeds, per-device analytics, and query logs you control. Features may change as the service develops, and it runs on a best-effort basis without a formal service-level agreement.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 and able to enter into a binding agreement.
- Give accurate registration details and keep your password confidential.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One person or organisation per account; do not share your credentials.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to break the law or infringe someone else's rights;
- disrupt or overload the service, or try to deny it to other users;
- use the resolver to attack a third party, for example by spoofing source addresses to use it for DNS amplification or reflection;
- circumvent, or try to circumvent, security measures, rate limits, or your plan's query allowance;
- resell or redistribute the service, or reverse-engineer or scrape it, except where the law expressly permits.
To protect the service and its users we may rate-limit, suspend, or close the profile or account responsible, and where abuse is clear we may act without prior notice.
Filtering is best-effort
Blocklists and threat feeds come from third parties and change constantly. Filtering may block sites you wanted or miss sites you didn't, and it is not a substitute for security software or careful browsing. You choose which lists and rules to enable, and that choice, and its effect on the sites you reach, is yours.
Plans, billing, and renewals
dundns offers a free plan and paid plans, described on our Pricing page. Paddle is our merchant of record and processes payments; paid plans renew automatically each term until you cancel. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. We may change prices or plans with reasonable advance notice to affected subscribers; continuing on a paid plan after a change takes effect means you accept it.
Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, upstream or network problems, and causes beyond our control can interrupt it. We may add, change, or withdraw features; where a change materially reduces a paid plan, we give reasonable notice.
Suspension and termination
- You can delete your account at any time from Account settings. Your profiles, settings, and logs are erased as set out in the Privacy Policy, and your devices stop resolving through dundns.
- We may suspend or end access for a breach of these terms or the acceptable-use rules, for non-payment, or where the law requires it, with reasonable notice unless the problem needs immediate action.
- Terms that by their nature should continue, such as acceptable-use consequences, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, and governing law, survive termination.
Your data and privacy
How we handle your DNS queries and account data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. You keep ownership of your data and grant us only the limited rights needed to run the service for you.
Intellectual property
dundns, including its software, design, name, and branding, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms. Open-source and other third-party components remain under their own licences.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that resolution, filtering, or availability will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, dundns is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and your mandatory consumer rights are not affected.
Governing law
dundns is operated by DUNDNS LIMITED, a company incorporated in the Republic of Ireland (company number 818115). These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. This does not deprive you of the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
Changes to these terms
We post changes here with a new date. Significant changes are announced through the service; continuing to use dundns after they take effect means you accept them.
